John Schulz joined the OmniTI team in July 2006 after spending the previous four years in residential home construction.
His time there was spent exercising his technical, interpersonal, and managerial skills. His duties with three of the largest private builders in the region ranged from technical infrastructure planning, installation, and support, to contract negotiation, as well as budget creation and analysis.
After graduating from James Madison University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Business Administration, John went to work at the largest web site for futures and options traders as one of only two technical staff. While there, he learned much about the separation of data from display and the need to remain flexible both personally and professionally.
John is skilled in many web technologies, such as Perl, Ruby, (X)HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and database design. He is passionate about UI design and semantic markup. His skills lie not at the extremes of graphic design or database/server administration, but in the middle where people actually interact with the application. He strives to make that interaction as intuitive and pleasant as possible.
I live in the Hampden neighborhood of Baltimore, where I enjoy brewing (and drinking) beer and listening to the hundreds of gigs of music on my music server. Last.fm and del.icio.us are two ways to follow my interests.
